A Peek at Our Academic Week
November 5th, 2012
 

Word Study: Scholars will receive a weekly word study sheet for homework. It will be broken down into days so it is clear as to what to do Monday through Thursday. The focus this week deals with words which encompass
 
Math: This week scholars are working on multiplication. Scholars will continue to address and understand Extended Response as well as previously addresses concepts such as rounding, estimating, standard, word, and expanded form amongst a host of other concepts.

 
Reading: Based on the 30 minutes of reading that should be taking place at home, scholars have a weekly reading response sheet where they will will address specific things they read about; in doing so they will increase their analytical and comprehensive skills.
 
REMEMBER-Turning in homework late is unacceptable. If any scholar turns in work anytime after it is due, they will not receive credit! Any questions, please contact Mrs. Phillips formerly Ms. Scott.


    IN CLASS


    Math: Scholars will address problem solving skills, multiplication and more.

    Reading:  Guided reading small groups are continuing to move forward as scholars think about their thinking. We are also undergoing different words for the word sorts to help build their level of vocabulary and comprehension.

    (Guided reading is a strategy that helps scholars become good readers. We, the instructors, provide support for small groups of readers as they learn to use various reading strategies such as utilizing context clues, letter and sound relationships, word structure, and so much more).


    Writing: Scholars are working on Narratives.

    Science: Scholars are in their structures of life unit and this week we are addressing germination.    


    Shining university of  the week!

     

     Kansas State has earned more table points than any other university this week! They were on task, followed directions and did what ever was requested of them in a timely fashion. Scholars at Kansas States has been doing a phenomenal job :-) Keep up the great work scholars of room 203!
